Tournament Taster

We’re very excited to announce our first ever Tournament Taster Day, on Sunday 9th June at the Emersons Green Village Hall. It will consist of an explanation of events and rules at competitions, along with a chance for students to try patterns and/or free sparring in a tournament style set up.

This event is a great learning opportunity for Coloured Belt students of all ages and grades, experienced competitors and novices alike. It will be a friendly, supportive event focussed on improving confidence and having fun. It will also provide a fantastic opportunity for our many Black Belts to gain experience and feedback on their Umpiring and Refereeing skillsets.

The session will run for 3 hours from 1pm to 4pm, will be open to all NMA students regardless of which Club or class you usually attend, and will be completely free of charge. As we are limited on space we unfortunately won’t be able to accommodate any spectators, so parents won’t be able to stay and watch, but we will have staff available to escort children to the toilets if necessary.

If you would like to take part in this event please fill out the form below. Unlike standard competitions which have pre-set divisions which you select based on your gender, grade and height/weight, we will divide you into groups nearer the time to ensure everybody has the best tournament-like experience.

20th Anniversary

Today marks the 20th Anniversary of the Emersons Green Tae Kwon-Do Club and the beginning of what became the Newman Martial Arts group. Wow, how the years have flown by!

Thank you to everyone who came to train today and who signed our lovely card. An extra special thank you to Zoë, Nick and Beth for arranging it all and for the very yummy cake!!

Thank you to everyone who has trained with us over the years. Every single one of you both past and present have helped mold the Club into the friendly, supportive environment that it is today and we are so so proud of the people we have become together.

Tae Kwon-Do is far more than just kicking and punching – it’s our safe space, our support group, our constant in an ever changing world. It keeps us grounded to what is really important in life and reminds us of how we should always strive to be better. Not just stronger, faster, better martial artists, but more honest, more supportive, better people in all aspects of our lives.

Happy 20th Anniversary NMA 🥋
